THE NUN (2018)
The Nun is a 2018 American gothic supernatural horror film directed by Corin Hardy and written by Gary Dauberman, from a story by James Wan and Dauberman. It is the fifth installment in The Conjuring Universe. The film stars Demián Bichir, Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, Bonnie Aarons, Charlotte Hope, and Ingrid Bisu.
The Nun tells the story of a priest named Frenchie who travels to Romania to investigate the suicide of a nun. There he meets Valak, the demon nun who haunted Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring 2. Valak torments Frenchie throughout his investigation until he finally confronts her in an abandoned monastery.
The Nun was met with mixed reviews from critics but was a box office success nonetheless. Some praised its scares while others criticized its derivative plotline; however all agreed that it was visually stunning thanks to Hardy's direction and some excellent set pieces.
