Hercules is a 2014 American 3D action-adventure film directed by Brett Ratner. The film is based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars by Steve Moore and stars Dwayne Johnson, Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Aksel Hennie, Reece Ritchie, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Joseph Fiennes and John Hurt. It was released on July 25 in North America.

The story of Hercules is one that has been told many times over throughout history in various mediums such as books and movies. This time around it comes to us in the form of a 3D action-adventure movie starring Dwayne Johnson who brings the titular character to life with all of his might and power.

The movie starts out with Hercules (Johnson) already having completed his famous twelve labors which have made him a legend amongst men. He now lives as a mercenary working for hire alongside his loyal friend Autolycus (Rufus Sewell). After successfully completing another job together they are approached by two very important people - King Cotys (Joseph Fiennes) and Queen Megara (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) - who request their help in defeating an evil warlord named Roxanne (Aksel Hennie).

Hercules initially isn't interested but after learning more about Roxanne he decides to take up the challenge and sets off for Thrace with Megara accompanying him as thanks for saving her life years ago when she was just a young girl. As they make their way there they quickly learn that things are not what they seem and soon enough they're fighting for their lives against hordes of enemies!

Overall I really enjoyed this movie! It had everything you could want from an epic adventure film - great characters, exciting fight scenes, humor etc.. And let's not forget about Dwayne Johnson who did an amazing job portraying Hercules; he truly looked like someone you wouldn't want to mess with! If you're looking for some good old fashioned escapist fun then I definitely recommend checking out Hercules when it comes out on DVD/Blu-ray."
